We booked a large group trip to Ixtapa for November 2025 back in January 2025. Five weeks before we were supposed to go, Club Med canceled on us. I thought they'd help us make the trip work somewhere else, since we were flexible on the location. After I went through customer service and escalated it to management, they offered another destination only if we paid several thousand dollars more. My family of five would have had to add $4,000 on top of our original $10k booking. The management representative seemed not to care when I explained this would be the last family vacation we'd be able to take with my dad. When I said I might share what happened, she replied, “do what you have to do.” We spent hours on the phone trying to find a solution. They could have moved us to another available destination, but wouldn't do so without the extra money because only upgraded rooms were available. With so little notice, we couldn't find another resort in Mexico that could take a group our size, so we had to cancel the trip together.

The food was fuego, the beach spotless, and the sunny days had us wondering why we'd ever leave. Club Med Ixtapa was a whole vibe, with sun and surf every day. Cynthia, one of the G.Os, was the real standout. She was kind, helpful, and so beautiful she could briefly distract you from the ocean view. She made the stay feel personal, like we were part of the Club Med family, and things felt a little sunnier when she was around. 10/10, I'd return. Cynthia, you're the MVP.

The grounds are pleasant, but getting around wasn't easy with my knee problem, since the property isn't accessible for people with disabilities and there are no elevators anywhere. The beach is beautiful and easy to reach, and the huge pool is lovely, though I wished it had a swim-up bar. Staff were courteous and very friendly. My room's AC worked well, but the twin bed had a wafer-thin mattress and I couldn't get enough rest. The food was passable, just mediocre, and the drink options were limited with low-end alcohol. It's a good value, though you do get what you pay for.

I came with my teens, and we loved the tennis, pickleball, sailing, trapeze, volleyball, food, beach, and the overall feel of the resort. The GOs couldn't have been kinder. I was surprised by reviews complaining that the place is dated, drinks take too long, or that they only serve hamburgers. The rooms are a little dated, but at Club Med you're mostly in there to sleep anyway. If the beach bar has a wait, the pool bar is an option. The food was fresh every time and had an amazing range, including plenty of vegan and gluten-free choices. Anyone should be able to find something they like. We've been to Punta Cana and Cancun before, and this was our first stay at Club Med Ixtapa. We'll be back.

Stay for a full week if you can, there's plenty to enjoy and time to properly unwind. The activities, food, rooms, staff, and excursions were all wonderful, and the resort felt very safe, with discreet security onsite. For airport transport, arrange it through Club Med, call them when you land, then head to the big taxi sign inside the airport. One side note: don't swim in the ocean after heavy rain.
