The setting is lovely, with trees and grass around the cabins leading down to an infinity edge pool high above the lake. The resort is well organized, the rooms were extremely clean, and the staff were friendly. The restaurant serves wonderful food prepared by a chef. Getting there takes a 10-minute drive over a rough dirt road, which hadn’t been repaired after the heavy summer rains. This place is a hidden gem in Mexico. Stay here if you get the chance.

One small thing bothered me: as an early riser, I like to wake up and have coffee, but there wasn’t any available before 8 a.m. Otherwise, I loved the greenery, pool, cabin, room service, and complimentary breakfast. The staff were polite and attentive, and the place itself was absolutely beautiful. I’d highly recommend it for relaxing and enjoying yourself.

The views are hard to beat, and the gardens are breathtaking. The pool is gorgeous too, an infinity style pool filled with actual lagoon water from the volcano. The cabañas are okay. The one I saw was very nice, but its largest bed was a double; it had three bedrooms and slept six. I was told they have other ones with larger beds. Such a beautiful location.

I’d rather keep this Minnesota-like lake in Mexico to myself. If I found a lot for sale, I’d have paid cash and retired right away. Waking up in January, I thought I was in Detroit Lakes in June.
