Casa al Mar

The beach is right across the street, and there’s a playground just steps away, which made Casa al Mar especially convenient for our family. The staff were welcoming and went out of their way to help. We had a roomy suite with a separate bedroom and living area, a dining spot, a medium-sized fridge, and a little balcony looking out at the ocean. A few practical details caught us off guard. There’s no elevator, though a bellboy can help with bags upstairs, and the entrance closes at 10pm. We had physical keys for both our room and the gate, not key cards. There are no room phones either, so you contact the front desk through WhatsApp or in person. Breakfast came with our package and was served at the restaurant next door, where you can also get ice. Since the hotel is on the main strip, it can be noisy on weekends, usually until around midnight. The bathroom was awkward too: the showerhead was very high and the shower wasn’t fully enclosed, so water got everywhere. There’s no pool, but the beach is so close. Even with those inconveniences, we’d happily return for the charm, comfort, kind service, and beach access.

Being right on the Malecon made getting around La Paz so easy. The hotel was spotless, and the staff were friendly and ready to help. A great spot.

We’d come back here. It’s a sweet little boutique hotel with comfortable, nice-looking furniture, and the rooms are both spacious and very clean. The staff were kind, and restaurants and pickup spots were an easy walk away. Only three rooms face the water, and those sit right on the main street, so weekends can get loud. I left the AC running and it worked well as background noise. There’s also a restaurant serving good food for breakfast and dinner.

We booked this place for the location, especially since the pickup point for our boat tours, the pearl, is just across the street. The room was spacious and lovely, and we got beautiful sunset views every day. The staff were all helpful and kind. One person even brought us aloe vera gel for our sunburn, which we really appreciated. The noise carried late into the night, though, and the bathroom was awful. The shower barely worked, the drain had been backing up since our first day, and there wasn’t enough counter space or anywhere to hang things.
