Best Western Plus Luna del Mar

The facilities are okay, with plenty of fairly large pools, and the maintenance and wait staff seem to be the only people who care. Even though our room faced the ocean, we couldn't open a window to hear it or feel the breeze. Going to the front desk for a pool towel was something I dreaded. Across several reception interactions, I remember only one smile. The food wasn't great either. There are much better places to eat within walking distance, unless you want that refrigerated bacon taste lingering in your mouth.

I've stayed here twice, for nine days altogether. The atmosphere is great, and the staff are helpful and provide good service. The rooms are decent and clean, but I wasn't very happy with the food. WiFi is very weak. Downtown is 3 km away, though you can usually find a taxi within five minutes.

The staffing situation left me with a bad impression. It seemed like they didn't have enough employees, and restaurant food could take at least 30 minutes. I saw the same person cleaning bedrooms at 7 am, working in other areas all day, then helping with the wedding at midnight. It felt like the staff were being overworked. I booked because a friend was having her wedding there, and the website photos made the place look like good value. But our suite looked nothing like them. The bedroom was tiny, the furniture old and broken, and even the bathroom shelves were coming off the wall. The AC was already having problems when we arrived. On the second night, at 4 am, it made a strange noise, started leaking, and then exploded. Nobody did anything. A completely disappointing stay.

So quiet and beautiful, with a nice family atmosphere. I like that it's affordable and away from the big tourist hotels.
