The room was freezing because the mini split only cools and its heating function is blocked. There was no natural light, and the hotel is far too expensive for what it offers. No robes, slippers, steamer, ironing board, or other amenities to justify the price. Noise was constant. The street, nearby restaurants and bars, construction next door, and even ordinary sounds inside the echoing building all carried into the room. The bathroom window is designed so it doesn’t close properly, adding to it. The music in my videos wasn’t mine. The WiFi barely worked, and on the second night there was no hot water. Staff told me to let it run for 5-10 minutes, but it never got hot, and they didn’t follow up with another fix or tell me when it was restored. When I raised concerns, they offered to move me to a smaller room at “no additional cost” and said they “can not control the work next door.” They didn’t offer any concession. I wouldn’t recommend staying here.

The rooms were wonderfully quiet, and the included breakfast was a delicious surprise. I’d noticed this little hotel when it first opened but hadn’t managed to stay until now. It’s a visual charmer in a great location, and very comfortable. The staff were incredible, and I had a 5-star experience.

The location is ideal, with restaurants and shops an easy walk away, and the hotel feels brand new and really cute. Staff were so welcoming and helpful, breakfast was delicious, and our room was spotless and comfortable. I especially liked the shower, and the bedding was cozy enough that I slept very well. We had the Junior Suite on the third floor, with its private terrace. It was lovely and shadier later in the afternoon, and the warm breeze made for an amazing nap. The terrace isn’t fully private, though, since you can see through the plants, so don’t expect to be totally nude out there. The hotel has three floors and no elevator, so keep that in mind. The public area was great, with two working spas and a shallow pool with two loungers. Our private spa had no jets, which was disappointing. A couple of umbrellas would make the pool area ideal, since the afternoon sun gets strong. I also wish the bar and restaurant stayed open past 2pm. The king bed was comfortable, but too short for us: I’m 5’10” and my husband is 6’1”, and both our feet hung over the end. Thank you Kahal for your hospitality!

Karla Flota, Daniel, and the whole team at KAHAL Hotel made our event memorable. Our guests said it felt like a home away from home, and like getting a big hug in a foreign country. Everyone was comfortable, as if among old friends. The canapes were fabulous, and the wine and service were outstanding. Everything went perfectly. We were hosting a small conference for 20 people and had KAHAL Hotel on our list of possible venues. We’ve held events for the last 4 years, and Karla’s responsiveness and the team’s commitment and communication surpassed every other location we’ve used. We felt welcome as soon as we walked in. The spot on the Paseo de Montejo at the Remate was convenient and easy to find. Thank you to everyone, especially Karla Flota.

There are lots of cozy nooks if you need to work remotely or sit and read, and the plunge pool and sundeck are great, with a private bathroom too. The food and coffee were wonderful. There’s no hotel bar, but I’m sure you can BYOB. It’s conveniently on Paseo Montejo, with easy walks to Centro, a late-night diner next door, and places from premier dining like Yerba to Calle 47, which is fully renovated and lined door to door with great restaurants. We had a wonderful stay at Kahal. Don’t be put off by the few reviews, since it only opened in January 2024. We saw the property in person after escaping a lackluster stay at a nearby “luxury” place and booked right away. Pricing was in line with other elevated properties in Merida. It was sparkling clean, and service was fast, approachable, and friendly. An American breakfast was included. There was a little live music from the venue next door on the hotel’s right side in the afternoon and early evening, but I found it fairly melodic and mood-oriented. We’d definitely stay again!
