Casa Decu

We felt very safe, and the decor was stylish. The location was wonderful, close to everything. The staff were amazing and friendly, and the room was clean and roomy. They even carried our bags up, which was a nice help. Our room was on the fifth floor, up narrow stairs, and I was out of breath by the time I got there. I should have researched that better. What really let the stay down was the bed. It was unbelievably uncomfortable, like the foam had disappeared and I was sinking into quicksand. Thank you!

The rooftop is charming, the breakfast was excellent, and the staff were helpful and informative. It’s a nice hotel for the young at heart, though whether it suits you depends on the comforts you need. There’s no elevator, and the stairs are steep and fairly narrow. Watch your step at the entrance, since the black marble floor and steps are hard to see. The bathroom lighting is too dim for makeup or shaving. They ask guests to hang towels to avoid daily washing, but there’s nowhere to hang them. There’s also no air conditioning or fridge bar. If those things matter to you, I wouldn’t recommend staying here.

The location and staff were the good parts of our stay at Casa Decu. The rooms felt cramped, the walls were thin enough that noise carried easily, and getting around was inconvenient. There’s no elevator, air conditioning, or services on site. I feel there are more comfortable and better options out there.

For a solo traveler, my street-facing junior suite on the second floor was just the right size, though it could fit two adults and a child. The neighborhood was quiet apart from the occasional local activity, and I mostly slept with the windows open. Hearing birds in the morning was lovely. In March the temperature shifted quite a bit, with cooler mornings and evenings and dry heat in direct sun during the day. The room had a portable heater and a cooling fan; I used the fan one night. I came to CDMX for the first time and booked at the last minute. Casa Decu is centrally located in La Condesa, with a lovely rooftop and welcoming, friendly, accommodating, professional service. There’s a door-person, and I’d suggest tipping the daily housecleaning staff and door-person. They’re there 24/7, help with luggage, and also provide security. The fitness room shown in some older images is no longer there. A continental breakfast is included, with a smaller menu available for an extra cost. Coffee and water are on the roof all day. My only suggestions are a small table and chair that would fit the junior suite’s day room, plus sheer curtains for daytime privacy without having to close the shades. I’d definitely visit again.
