Our other two nights were fine, but the first was awful. A party upstairs blasted music until 3 AM, with bass shaking the room. I could make out the songs, and my computer microphone recorded 80 decibels, about as loud as an alarm clock or busy restaurant. The DJ was pretty good, at least. Staff said a third party rents the floor for events and is supposed to keep the noise down and finish earlier. If you’re going to rent out event space in a way that makes the hotel unlivable, you shouldn’t run a hotel. I wouldn’t stay here for free, and I wouldn’t make my enemies stay here either. We got no offer of compensation for losing sleep in a room we couldn’t use that night. It wouldn’t have fixed the sleepless night, but it might have made me feel less scammed. As long as parties happen in the building, you’re risking a miserable stay. In response to the likely AI-generated business reply below: as I said, I raised this with multiple staff members the next day. Nobody offered restitution. I appreciate the attempt to blame a guest for the poor response to the complaint.

Josue and Carlos at the front desk made the stay for us. Josue especially made us feel at home as soon as we arrived, sharing stories and local tips, and asking about the abstract art. The whole team was warm, and every interaction felt genuine rather than scripted. The place itself is beautiful, and its Roma Norte location is perfect for exploring the neighborhood. It’s exactly the kind of boutique hotel we wanted, and we’ll be back.

The building is pretty, and the location is fine, but the rooms only look good in photos. The furniture is beat up. There’s a nightclub on the roof that nobody mentions when you book, though the earplugs on the nightstand give it away. Music thumped hard enough to shake the room until 2 or 3 AM, then crowds spilling into the street and the cleanup kept me awake even longer. I got maybe one or two hours of sleep a night, at most. I complained downstairs both nights after 2 AM and was told the room manager would contact me about compensation. She did offer to refund 30% of one night, but the refund never came. Worst hotel stay of my life, anywhere. I can’t understand how this place has a Michelin key.

The room was a letdown too: no windows facing outside, just one onto a small, dark courtyard. The mini fridge was broken and had to be replaced, and the lights flickered because they were broken. Then there was the rooftop club. At midnight on a Thursday, the walls rattled and the room shook. Nobody told us when booking or checking in that this was basically a party hotel, and we couldn’t sleep, so we checked out early. For one of the area’s most expensive hotels, I expected a lot more. They said they’d follow up about a refund when we checked out. Weeks went by without a word, so I had to chase them. They eventually refunded us, but the whole stay was deeply disappointing. I’ve stayed in plenty of Mexico City hotels, and this was by far my worst experience. There are so many good places in Roma and Condesa, so I’d look elsewhere.

Diana Laura Guzmán Garduño made a real difference when a personal matter came up during our trip. She stepped in right away, was thoughtful and conscientious, and even used her own break to help us find a resolution. Her kindness and guidance meant a lot. She was professional, but also so personable, and made us feel valued rather than like just another visitor. The rest of the team was warm and attentive throughout, too. Casona Roma Norte, also known as Hotel La Casona, gave us a lovely stay in Mexico City. The accommodations were clean, comfortable, charming, and beautifully designed, with that historic Roma Norte feel. If you want personal, heartfelt service at a boutique hotel, this place delivers. Thanks to Diana and the whole team. We’d happily recommend it and would love to return.
