Del Parque Suites

This is a three-bedroom, one-bathroom condo, not a hotel. The bathroom is shared with up to five other people, and that detail is buried under “more details” on the listing. Check-in can take 20-30 minutes while the doorman calls someone who eventually comes to let you in. There are no services, and other guests may be cooking after midnight or yelling on their phones at 7 am. My suitemates left the shared bathroom sloppy, and I had to deal with their shower water on the floor. The place is inexpensive, so maybe the noise and smells at all hours won’t bother you, but it wasn’t acceptable to me. I booked through hotels.com, and I believe they’re also responsible for allowing the shared bathroom detail to be buried.

We had half an hour left to vacate when they gathered all our belongings into a ball and moved them because repairs were about to be done in the room. It was terrible service and showed a complete lack of respect and security.

I only managed to cancel without extra charges after Expedia spoke with the owner. Before that, I was left waiting: the guards said the property was a condominium and I needed to contact the owner to get in, but the email never gave me their contact details. I had booked through Expedia after choosing the hotel category precisely because I didn’t want to track someone down. The email said “confirmation,” while the owner later told me I should have contacted them at least 48 hours ahead and not confirmed the booking. They eventually replied, but only after a while. I can’t tell whether Expedia or the owner was at fault, but the whole thing was unacceptable.

The view is the one good thing here. The guards tell you on arrival that Airbnb isn’t allowed, so they won’t let you in. You also can’t come and go freely. You have to wait for Diana to open the door, and she takes 10 to 15 minutes even though she uses the elevator. When she does come down, she seems reluctant and makes faces, as though she’s doing you a favor, even though you paid to stay there. Once she hid to avoid taking the elevator, but her reflection was visible in the tile 🤡 Service was seriously bad. I’m glad I didn’t book the whole stay before finding out. It isn’t worth it. BelAir is very close, costs the same, and includes a breakfast buffet. P.S. This is the same place as Chicago Suites. I booked through Booking.com and was put in Chicago Suites, room 901B. I’d paid extra for a private room and bathroom, and the service there was bad too. It was awful.
