Hotel Ancona - Adults Only

The older woman at the front desk made check-in a real hassle. I stayed here a couple of weeks ago without any problem, but this time she objected to the stamp on my passport, even though it had been smudged by someone else. She also insisted that I leave my room key at reception every time I went out. I don't understand why someone like her has to take the fun out of my trip. I'm paying for service and shouldn't be treated like an unwanted guest. I was left wondering what this unbalanced woman might do next, and felt unsafe. Stay away from this grungy hotel and its staff. The lack of ventilation also makes it stuffy and hard to breathe.

This was my first hotel after arriving in Mexico City, and the stay wasn't ideal. The clerk told me the hotel rents rooms by the hour. My first-floor room had a window opening straight into a dirty laundry room, and the smell came right in, so I asked to move and was put on the sixth floor. There is no elevator, so expect to climb the stairs. The internet was acceptable, the room had a smart TV, the linens were okay, and the bathroom had hot water. But moaning and knocking sounds carried through the night and kept me from sleeping well. At 750 pesos a day, I felt it was overpriced for the experience and amenities. I wouldn't recommend it unless you're in a pinch with no other options.

I should've read the reviews before booking. The rude woman at the counter refused me because I had a tiny child's bicycle. Book the hotel a few corners away instead.

The bed was okay, but the service and cleaning were poor, and the place felt seedy. The Wi-Fi didn't work on the second floor. I asked reception for help, but she blamed my phone and refused to assist, even though we couldn't connect with two phones, a tablet, or a Kindle. I couldn't shake the feeling that I wasn't the kind of customer the hotel usually had. While I was checking in, a man came through the main door, paid cash, and took his acquaintance upstairs. I paid cash too, but had to fill out a paper form before getting my keys. It felt shady. The rooms have very dim lighting and red walls, which make your skin look nice but don't help you see much else. We found a cigarette box wrapper on the floor, so it didn't seem thoroughly cleaned. The shower pressure was good and the water warmed up after three minutes, but by then the whole bathroom floor was flooded. There were three ashtrays glued to the bedside tables and one by the mirror.
