Hotel Casa Comtesse

The one thing I regret is only booking one night at Casa Comtesse. The room was large, comfortable, and well equipped, and the house is beautiful both inside and out, with great art and furniture. Even though it faces a main road and a bus stop, it was surprisingly quiet. I noticed the two layers of windows, including new double-pane ones, seemed to keep street noise out, and we slept really well. Breakfast was delicious, the complimentary mezcal tasting was a nice touch, and the staff were friendly. Shout out to Roy and Fernando. The location is handy for restaurants and bars in Condesa, and felt safe and walkable. I'll definitely book here again when I'm back in CDMX.

Fernando and Roi gave us especially good service, and the overnight staff member was lovely too. I can't remember her name, but she put out yogurt and granola for us before our 4:40am day tour. When we returned, they kept our luggage secure and welcomed us to relax for a while before collecting it and checking out. Roi also made happy-hour cocktails and led a wonderful mezcal tasting. We stayed in La Carlota, a huge, bright room with a comfortable bed and good air conditioning. I liked our shower, which worked well and had large glass windows. Some people have complained about the showers, but I thought it was charming that the hotel kept parts of the building's original character. The website photos don't capture how beautiful this boutique hotel is, with its many quiet little nooks and art throughout. I loved staying here and highly recommend it.

The front rooms get some street noise at night, though they're bright and nicely furnished. The location works well for exploring CDMX, and there are parks and restaurants a short walk away, with Roma also reasonably close. Condesa proper is a little farther from this spot. Casa Comtesse is about as good as this kind of lodging gets. It's a warm, stylish 1940s house turned into a small hotel, with a quiet, leafy courtyard, a small drinks bar, breakfast that may include a daily special, 24-hour staff on site, and plenty of thoughtful touches. Based on this stay and similar hotels I've tried internationally, I'd recommend it.

The location worked really well for me. I walked to great restaurants and lovely parks, and felt safe out in the evenings. Breakfast was a highlight, especially the delicious Mexican options. I spent three nights here and had a wonderful time. The property is beautiful and well cared for, and all the staff were helpful. Fernando checked me in, showed me around the b&b, and did a great job. My room was very clean and comfortable. The bed was great, the shower worked well, and even with a street-facing window it was quiet at night. I highly recommend staying here and hope to return next year.
