Hotel MX condesa CDMX, Trademark Collection by Wyndham

The breakfast was good, especially the scrambled eggs with ham, and the coffee machine also made hot chocolate. There are big trees inside the hotel, with lovely decor and a Renaissance feel. Our room was cosy, though the ceiling fan barely helped, so we had to open the door to get some air. It was a great experience overall, and I could come back.

The hot water worked, which was about the only bright spot. There’s no elevator, so you have to haul heavy suitcases up a narrow, steep staircase. My room was on the second floor, and I could hear people talking downstairs even with the door closed. Cooking smells from the restaurant below, grease, eggs, bacon, filled the room and just lingered there. No fridge or air conditioning in the room, either, and you have to ask the front desk to borrow a hairdryer. I booked because Gemini kept recommending it while I searched for places to stay in Mexico, and because it’s part of the Wyndham chain. I honestly don’t understand the high rating. I can’t recommend this hotel.

The room had glass doors with curtains, so I didn’t feel I had much privacy. Noise from the lobby and hallways carried easily, especially the birds in the lobby trees early in the morning. There was also a drain smell, and I wouldn’t stay in one of the small rooms for more than a couple nights. Still, it’s in a great location, with a remarkable atmosphere inside. The staff were exceptionally friendly and professional, and the free breakfast had plenty of choices, including Mexican-style dishes. It’s a very nice hotel, and I’d recommend staying here.

We’ve been here more than a week and are really enjoying the stay. It’s not a high-end hotel, but it’s clean and comfortable, and every staff member we’ve met has been kind and helpful. Daniela at reception deserves a special mention. She went above and beyond whenever we needed amenities, information, or help, and was lovely about our imperfect Spanish. Thanks, Daniela! We’ve already booked another visit. Looking forward to seeing Daniela again and spending more time in this beautiful city.
