Mondrian Mexico City Condesa

My room at the Mondrian Condesa was beautifully designed and comfortable, just what I wanted after long workdays. The food was great throughout, and the service stayed warm, attentive, and consistent. Zoila deserves a special mention for going out of her way to make sure our whole group felt cared for at all times. We were there with a group for a business trip in Mexico City, and the whole stay felt smooth and outstanding. I'd absolutely return.

The property is beautiful and sits in a great location, but the service is what really stood out. Work forced me to change my plans at the last minute, and the staff helped me through the whole process. They even upgraded my room, arranged dinner reservations and booked excursions, and kept checking that I was happy. I travel a lot and haven't had service this good before. I'm going back next week!

We liked the terrace and the location in Condesa, but this didn't feel like a five-star stay. The bathroom had no hand soap when we arrived, and it took four calls to get some. Getting more water each day was also a hassle, with repeated calls and no one bringing it. The faucet only worked halfway before spraying water everywhere. The toilet sits behind a semi-transparent glass wall, so someone at the sink can see the person using it. At night, the curtains leave gaps at the edges, and the wall touch panels give off bright LED light. There's also a motion light by the bathroom that comes on when you walk past, even with all the lights off, and wakes the other person. We'd choose a boutique hotel next time, even without a five-star rating. There are better places to spend your money in Condesa.

Mexico City was great, but I'd pick another hotel next time. The rooms were just average, and the receptionists were friendly. Breakfast was a different story: the staff there were unfriendly, and the food was honestly the worst I've had at a hotel. We were told there'd be plenty of vegan choices, but there were hardly any, so we ate salad, salsa and bread every day. The options generally stayed the same, and the waiter would roll his eyes when we ordered coffee. We felt unwelcome and stopped going. It's a shame that some staff give such a poor impression of Mexican culture.
