Segovia Regency Hotel

Roma Norte is a great location, and I was happy with that part. The four nights I stayed last week, though, were disappointing and took away from our Mexico City vacation. The room had no air conditioning, which I hadn’t realized when booking, so that part was on me. It got hot and stuffy with the window open. We faced an interior courtyard where lots of other windows were open too, and conversations carried right into our room. I asked reception for a fan, but they had none and seemed dismissive. On the fourth night we switched to a street-facing room, which was noisy as well since the window still had to stay open. The shower barely had any pressure, just a drip. We also needed an iron and couldn’t get one. Reception was dismissive about that request too. I really wanted to like the hotel, but it was a poor stay.

The room worked for me and the price was good, especially with such an ideal location. I’d read mixed reviews and wasn’t sure about booking, but another guest had said they took a chance despite those reviews and enjoyed it. I did too, on my first visit to Mexico City.

The location is a real plus, right by Insurgentes metro station and a bus stop, with restaurants and currency exchange offices nearby. The bed was big and comfortable, though the rooms themselves are pretty dark. Most of my stay was fine, and I’d rate it 3.5 if I could, so I’ve gone with 3. The magnetic key was the frustrating part. It kept deactivating, sometimes several times in one day, and I had to go back down to reception to get it reactivated, on a couple of occasions twice in a row. Staff blamed the phone in my pocket, but I kept the card separately, and other people in my group had the same problem in their rooms. I also couldn’t get two basic water glasses brought up.

It’s a very nice hotel, but on two of the three nights I stayed there, I saw a naked man in the hallway. He was standing by the elevator without a towel.
