Regente Hotel

The food was the biggest letdown. It was average at best and sometimes not very tasty, and I expected better quality and more flavor from a hotel in Mexico. The bed also wasn’t comfortable, so getting a good night’s sleep was hard. The hotel itself looks lovely and well cared for, with beautiful architecture and common areas. Our room was clean and nicely decorated, and the place makes a good first impression. Still, both the food and comfort could be better.

The location is very good, but the tradeoff is hygiene, comfort, and service. I booked through a tour operator as part of a weekend package, and I won’t book with the hotel or take that operator’s tours again.

The location is good, but the buffet wasn’t very good. The room’s air conditioning was old, noisy, and barely worked. Thin walls and doors also meant we could hear tour groups talking on our floor. We needed the doorman to let us in each time because the door only opened with the hotel master key.

Breakfast was fairly good, with a reasonable range of choices. I didn’t eat there in the evening. The main issue was the kitchen fans below my room. Their noise came up through the light well my window faced. Oddly, when they ran, it was like white noise and I could sleep. They switched on and off at intervals from the early hours. If your room only looks onto a light well, you might want to ask for a change.
