The inside smelled old and damp, and the windows did nothing to block the noise. There was no heating or air conditioning either. The floors and curtains were dirty, stained, and worn, the shower curtain was covered in mold, and there was hair on the mattress. Don’t trust the Booking.com score.

The windows seemed partly broken, and the bathtub wasn’t maintained well. Wi-Fi was unreliable, and the staff members were ignorant. I was disappointed with the service.

The suite was spacious, the bed was comfortable, and the mini fridge kept our drinks cold. The location worked well, too. We got just one coffee kit and two bottles of water for the whole stay. Tuesday and Wednesday were fairly quiet, but someone sang for most of Thursday night. Music across the street was loud on Friday, though it quieted down around midnight or so.

The room was much better than I expected for 2700 pesos after taxes for three nights. It had a living room area, dining table, kitchen with a stove, mini fridge, microwave, and utensils. The bedroom TV was big, and the bed was so comfortable, with wonderful pillows that made it hard to get up. There’s free laundry in the hotel in the evening, and they clean the room every day. We hadn’t realized that, so we left our things and money out, and everything was still there when we returned. The staff were trustworthy and nice. It’s also a very safe, nice area, with the Angel of independence, restaurants, coffee shops, shops, Oxxos, and just about everything else within walking distance. The US embassy is three minutes away on foot, and the place for visa medical checks and fingerprints is a five minute walk. The shower head doesn’t work well because water also comes out of the tub spout, and there’s no way to shut that off. There’s a tub, but no plug, so you can’t take a bath. It would also be nice to have a bar at the hotel or room service. I’d definitely stay again. It’s a great price for a comfortable room and nice staff, especially if you have business at the US embassy or want to stay in a safe, pleasant part of the city.
