The 222

It’s good value and well located, but the rooms are very average. The bed was okay, while the thin walls meant it was hot during the day and cold at night. Customer service was rude. My partner and I were both on the reservation, but they arrived separately and rang the doorbell. The older woman came up to yell at me, saying it was MY responsibility to let my “guests” in. It seemed like the owners really didn’t want to be bothered, god forbid. The younger man who let me in was very friendly, though.

The rooftop is a great quiet spot to hang out or get some work done, and the rooms are cosy, comfortable, and fairly quiet for sleeping. I’ve stayed at the 222 four times in three years, and it always feels like coming back to my second home. The staff are lovely and welcoming. The neighborhood feels authentic, with lots of nice restaurants and cafes, and Roma Norte and La Condesa are within walking distance. Can’t wait to return!

For $100 USD for three nights, this was great value. The place felt so comfortable and homey that it reminded me of my own apartment.

The upstairs terrace was lovely, the Wi-Fi worked well, and our shower had strong, hot water. Getting check-in details and arranging payment took a lot of messaging and follow-up with the owner, though it was easy once I reached them. Room 3 also had loud, regular whirring from what seemed to be a water tank or other machinery above it, and it was loud enough to disturb sleep. The room could use a deep clean and some care, especially with the mould in the shower. I also found the cotton-picking artwork questionable. Another guest apparently didn’t have hot water.
