Hotel Son-Mar Monterrey Centro

The check-in guy could have been less rude. My room had no working AC, hair in the shower, and a toilet that didn't work. The phone was broken too, so I couldn't call reception to ask for another room. I was only there one night on a short vacation and didn't want to deal with that hassle. The stay could have been better.

The room was small, but comfortable enough for a good night's sleep, and the place was clean. The staff were nice and helpful when I had questions about getting around the city. My main problem was the door seals: light came in around the edges, and I have trouble sleeping with light around. The food was great, and breakfast is included with the stay, though it was just OK. Internet service was a bit inefficient. Still a good place to rest.

It's right by a subway station, which made the location convenient. The hotel is clean enough and cheaper, though not as new or fancy as places farther north. The service was nice too: they let us into our room before check-in and stored my bag after checkout.

The hotel is outdated, and the entrance and lobby were always too busy because an immigration service operates there. The neighborhood isn't the best for tourism, though having a subway station across the street is an advantage. The front desk, cleaning, and restaurant staff all did a good job.
