Hotel and Hostel Allende Morelia

We stayed in three different rooms, and all of them had drain flies in the bathroom and bedroom. Some bathrooms didn't even have doors. They advertised free parking, then tried to charge us for it. They also failed to hold our room for the full week, so we had to move to a terrible room with no TV, mosquitoes, drain flies, and no bathroom privacy. Never again.

For a budget stay in Morelia, this quiet, peaceful hotel is great. The rooms are basic, but the bed and pillows are really comfortable, and hot water comes through almost right away. I also like the central courtyard and having kitchen access with hot and cold drinking water. At this price and location, I've got nothing to complain about.

The uncomfortable bed and noisy room might have been forgivable, but the way staff treated me wasn't. My bed had no locker, so they put my things in a locker in the women's dorm, which already felt odd. Later, when I went into the dorm to get my own belongings, staff rudely told me off. Breakfast was included, and fruit and coffee were laid out in the kitchen, so I helped myself as I would in a hostel. While I was sitting down, they scolded me for it. I offered to put the food back, but they told me to eat. Afterward they suggested I owed another 50 pesos because I'd taken too much fruit. It wasn't about the money. I felt they'd treated me unfairly, so I refused to pay on principle. Then they said it would be better for 'the safety of my stuff' if I took my luggage and left, even though I'd wanted to leave it there while I walked around, something they'd previously said was fine. They have a lot to learn about welcoming guests.

This place exceeded my expectations. The reviews here make it sound worse than it is, though maybe people are more likely to post when they're cranky. Same could be true of me, so to be fair, I thought it was good.
