There’s a wonderful chocolate smell all the time, and breakfast is served there too. The rooms are okay if you only plan to sleep in them. The toilet situation is tricky since it’s a shared bathroom, and there isn’t much room to hang clothes and other things.

The rooms were cramped, the Wi-Fi didn’t work in them, and the stairwell felt dangerously narrow and steep. They owed us a refund, but we had to return twice before we got it.

The smell is wonderful, especially downstairs, where it feels like a mole and chocolate factory. The look of the hotel also really appealed to me: it was very clean and had a Día de Muertos feel throughout. Getting around is easy too. The Zócalo and buses to Puerto Escondido are close, and the minibus stop for AU Periférico is only a few blocks away.
