Be Playa Hotel Boutique & Rooftop Bar - Adults Only

The manager took my key card when I tried to bring someone I’d met on vacation up to my room, and asked me intrusive questions. The owner won’t allow guests to bring visitors to their rooms, even briefly. He spoke down to me like I was a child. As a woman traveling alone, I found the whole thing unsettling, and I’ve never had this happen on any other trip. In this small boutique hotel, the manager seems to make up the rules as he goes. The room had issues too. The shower leaked onto the floor, and housekeeping didn’t adequately replace the sheets and towels.

The rooftop pool has a calm, stylish feel that’s great for unwinding. Be Playa is also connected to a sushi restaurant, and across the street there are delicious local Mexican food vendors. Our room was roomy and luxurious, with upscale touches like a big bathtub in the middle and Hollywood-style lighting around the vanity mirror. The beds were especially comfortable. A great hotel option in Playa Del Carmen.

I booked at the last minute, and the staff handled every request smoothly and gracefully. The Jacuzzi rooms are worth upgrading to, and the beach and great food spots are within walking distance. When my flight got messed up, I had to stay another night even though I’d checked out for a few days. The hotel made a last-minute booking for me and welcomed me back like family. The people working there are amazing and really saved me. The place has character and a genuine charm that made me feel special.

So central, just a seven-minute walk to mamitas beach and the bars. The breakfast was delicious and there are lots of amenities. Best experience, 10/10.
