The tennis courts were a highlight for me. I took several private lessons and one free group lesson with the on-site pro, Jose Alfredo Alvarez. He was patient and thorough, and helped me improve several parts of my game. The courts were well maintained, and setting up sessions at the tennis office was easy. After playing, the gym was a nice place to work out and condition. It was well maintained and stocked with machines, free weights, and cardio equipment. I spent a week at the resort in mid February and had a wonderful time. The food and service from all the staff were excellent. Entertainment was thoughtful and varied, the team clearly cared about the guest experience, and the cleaning crew kept things tidy and refreshed promptly. I’d consider coming back for my next winter escape. Some pool and restaurant areas were hard to identify, so more signs on-site would help. Otherwise, no real complaints.
5/30-6/3/26. The swim-out junior suite had been recently updated and was great. My wife and I really enjoyed the resort. Food was very good, and the teppanyaki and Italian ala cart meals were outstanding. The low-cost shuttle into town was convenient. The shows were okay, and the fire show was great. There was sargassum on the beach, but I knew about it in advance and they were doing their best, so I don’t hold it against them.
We’ve returned to this resort three times for our anniversary, in December 2021, 2023, and December 3-13, 2025. This visit had pros and cons, but overall it was a 5/5 stay. The newly renovated junior deluxe swim-out room was fantastic. The beach and beach bar were great, the spa was so good, and the staff made the trip memorable. We booked a king suite in May 2025 and noted it was our anniversary, but at check-in the agent said we were getting two double beds. She confirmed she could see the king booking and said she’d ask about changing it. After some back and forth, we did get the king room. I don’t know why it was overlooked when she said there was plenty of availability. The only swim-out issue was people bringing small children over and letting them run around on our stairs and deck. The food was mostly great: Mama Mia three times, The Wok twice, and Rodizzio twice were fantastic. La Vaqueria left something to be desired. Both the regular and Sunset buffets were good, the snack bar behind the party pool was top notch for wings and burgers, the Sports Bar was great, and drinks were great too. Housekeeping was very inconsistent. In ten days, they brought coffee for my maker only twice, which was frustrating since I preferred making it in the room instead of leaving to get coffee first thing. Other guests told us they got two packets daily. The concierge was okay, but when I asked for anniversary activity ideas around the resort, he kept saying he’d check with his manager about a free bottle of wine. That wasn’t what I meant. Neither of us drinks wine, and I was just asking what there was to do. We had an 80-minute couples massage at the spa, followed by use of their tub, champagne, and chocolate-covered strawberries. It was one of the best massages I’ve had. They wrote up a receipt so I could claim it on my benefits when I got home, and I was reimbursed immediately. Definitely recommend. Big shout out to the Photo Pro staff, especially new employee Eduardo. We had fun with him; we met on day two and he remembered us throughout the vacation, even the day we were leaving, when he came to find us and say goodbye. Martin, the shuttle driver, was amazing as always and one of the main reasons we return. Alexis at the pool bar was phenomenal too. Thank you for a great stay!
The buffet was excellent, sometimes better than the a la carte restaurants, and you didn’t have to wait for service. We were a group of six and they kept our rooms fairly close together, which was convenient. Renovations were going on in the other half of the resort, but we hardly noticed because noise was minimal, whether we were by the pool, walking around, or at the beach. It was my third visit and my first since the renovations were completed. The upgrades are clean, very nice, and feel perfect. Bellboys greeted us right away, and we got a welcome drink to cool down while waiting to check in. The lobby bar had a great drink selection, with options to stay or take a drink to go.
The week went by much too quickly. I fell in love with the hotel’s beautiful grounds, where deer, monkeys, coatis, and other lovely animals made the stay feel unique. Everything was comfortable: our modern, very spacious room had both a shower and bathtub, and the service was impeccable. The facilities were excellent, with several great pools and a fitness center, and the restaurants offered plenty of varied, high-quality choices. A memorable stay!
