Hotel Casablanca

My king room was spacious, with a kitchen area, a comfortable bed, and everything working properly. The hotel is below the main road, so you don’t hear it, and it’s just a few steps from the harbour and central beach, Playa principal. Housekeeping had a great attitude, too. It was as advertised, with no false promises. Just steer clear of Wednesday night unless you’re planning to join in. The nearby Congo night club blasts music until 3 a.m.

We only got two towels for the entire stay, no hand towels or pool towel, and when we asked for more they said they’d already given us one each. They don’t store bags after checkout either, which was a real inconvenience. We’ve never had a hotel turn down such simple requests. The room was only so-so for cleanliness, with spiderwebs and ants throughout the bathroom. Wifi was awful and barely worked. The accommodations themselves were decent, but I’d spend a few more dollars for somewhere nicer. Even a private hostel room would have been friendlier, more convenient, and cleaner.

The market on the street below stays open until midnight, but I could sleep through the noise easily. The doors open onto little balconies overlooking all the shops and restaurants. There’s a lovely pool area too. The local staff were friendly and very helpful. They booked some fantastic tours and gave me good restaurant tips. They didn’t speak English, which actually helped me practice Spanish. Rooms were clean, with a fan, air conditioning, and hot water, though you have to wait a while for it. Great value.

There are restaurants, bars, a pharmacy, convenience store, and tourist shops right outside, and the beach is a short stroll away. The hotel was clean and quiet, with a wonderful pool and patio. Our room had a small balcony where we could watch the quiet street below. The room air conditioning worked well until it started dripping condensation on day four. The shower pressure was poor, although the poolside shower was incredible. My earbuds went missing from the room, but nothing else of value did. I’m not sure, maybe I lost them along the way.
