Riu Flamingos - All Inclusive

Getting a pool or beach chair was never a problem, and with six pools, including two large ones, a bar pool and two for kids, it never felt too crowded. The place was super fun and very clean, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The white party was a blast. I especially loved ARANZA, who made water aerobics so much fun that I joined almost every day and looked forward to it. I never thought I'd be into that. :)

The beach really needs shade, so bring a travel umbrella. More a la carte restaurants would be welcome too, since getting into them was difficult and they don't take reservations. Even so, the resort has been renovated beautifully and feels clean and modern, with truly wonderful staff. Aranza, who led aqua gym and stretching, was always smiling and seemed to love what she does. Jakie at the Italian restaurant was friendly and professional, and cooks Robin and Ramses offered to make me mussels at lunch when there weren't any at the buffet. Armando was also great, always smiling as he brought drinks around the pool in his cart. I'd highly recommend the hotel.

The beach was a highlight, with good waves each day for the kids to play in the ocean. I enjoyed browsing the local vendors and bought a couple of things, plus had a massage. We walked to Busarius one day and felt safe, then Ubered into PV another day. The pools were great too, and there were iguanas around the resort. The ICECREAM SHOP was incredible!!!! We spent a week here with friends and had an incredible time. Our ocean view suite was huge, with two bedrooms with queen beds, two bathrooms and a giant bed. We felt safe and used the safe daily without any issues. Housekeeping was wonderful. Angel was a great bartender, and pool cart servers Johny and Armando were attentive and found us every day. Entertainment staff were incredible, especially Carla, Xianna and Mike. The Michael Jackson show was really good. Food was very good. With kids, we mostly went to the buffets because it was easy. We also tried the Steakhouse, Agave and American grill. The Steakhouse was good, though not incredible. Agave was a Mexican a la carte restaurant that surprised me by being a buffet. American grill had great mac and cheese and chicken wings. We ate lunch daily at the pool restaurants, where the tacos were great and my kids gave the hotdogs five stars. My child has a tree nut anaphylactic allergy, and I felt completely safe at the buffets thanks to the allergy labels. When I wasn't sure about a couple of things, the chefs were very helpful. I'd absolutely return.

With several pools, a kids' water play area and water sports rentals right at the resort, there was plenty to do without leaving. A cab to Bucerias took about 15 minutes and cost us around 100 pesos. We ate at Fat Boy Seafood, which was top notch. The market in the Plaza closes around 8, so it's better to go earlier. Hotel Riu Jalisco was amazing for our family holiday. The 2025 renovations were beautiful and well done, and made a wonderful setting for the trip. We also attended a beautifully arranged wedding. Staff were friendly and helpful, the cleaning was meticulous, and the family activities and entertainment were top notch. We'll definitely return!
