Hotel Imperial Saltillo

The place was spotless throughout, and the staff paid close attention to guests. It's also in a great spot, only a few minutes from the city center.

We stayed one night in the RV hookup area and were glad to find a place like this for RV travelers. We felt safe, and everyone we met was very nice. Shops, restaurants, and other fun spots are all within walking distance, which made the location especially handy.

The decor looks like it dates back to the 70s, but the mattresses are good and the shower gets super hot. I was pleased with the cleanliness, service, and location. When I walked in, I paid 1,000 pesos; the next day I added another night for $850.00 (USD 45.00).

I was tired after driving from the airport in Monterrey and checking in around 11 pm, so I paid by credit card for the five nights I planned in Saltillo. Then the woman at the desk tried to get me to pay cash before she'd hand over the key card, even though I'd paid in full. If it hadn't been so late and I hadn't been exhausted, I would have called my bank to reverse the charge and gone somewhere else. The room had some alarming makeshift work. The lamp cords seemed to have been lengthened with wire from another lamp, wrapped around the plug and covered with electrical tape. The glass door at the back opened onto what they called a courtyard with a gazebo, but it wouldn't lock. I only discovered that on my last day, while waiting for my girlfriend to pick me up before checkout, when I went to look around the courtyard. That meant my room had been accessible to anyone for the whole five-day stay. The courtyard itself didn't feel safe either. I saw four open holes about waist deep with the electrical wiring for the whole hotel exposed. After dark, especially if someone had been drinking, a person could easily miss a hole, fall in, and be electrocuted. They might not be found for days. There's more I could say, but this is already long enough that most people probably won't read it and will just say, "yep that's Mexico for ya" ... haha ...
