Hampton Inn San Luis Potosi

For a quick work trip or one night, this place does the job, though I wouldn't pick it for a longer family vacation. It was my second stay. The room was clean and roomy, and the staff were friendly. Breakfast was okay. One of the two elevators was out of order, so there were long waits. The shampoo and conditioner dispensers in the shower were empty too, and took quite a while to refill, probably because staffing was limited.

The garden-view rooms are great if you want quiet and a beautiful view of TAM park. The hotel is modern, with excellent underground parking, and it sits right next to Citadel Mall. The pool was okay, but strong winds of 5-20 mph can blow everything around on the rooftop. The elevators are very slow, though they work extremely well. This place feels built for business travelers staying in SLP for a couple of days or 1-2 weeks, rather than family groups. Weekends are more relaxed. If you want a waiter in the dining area, you have to pay for service, which felt weird. The cleaning, dining, and front desk staff were all excellent, no joke.

The view was amazing, and the rooms and bathrooms were clean. Service was also excellent and polite. Parking was the only reason I didn't give five stars. I know places here aren't usually built for large trucks, so some of that is on me, but the ramps were so narrow that we scratched our truck. Thankfully, the other ramp was just wide enough for us to get out.

Don't book this hotel. We spent 10 days there, and more than six hours of that was spent watching the elevator. It was the most painful hotel stay I've had. There's only one elevator serving 16 floors, and other reviews say it had already been broken for more than two months. Even during quiet periods, getting up to our room or back down took an average of 10-15 minutes. The elevator holds five people at most and takes about 10 minutes for one round trip. From the 11th floor, we took the stairs four times because it was always full. After waiting 30 minutes, we gave up. Our family of four also had only one pillow and two towels in the room. The mini fridge barely worked and took two days to chill some drinks. Not worth your time.
