Fato Hotel

I was there for five nights and found the staff helpful and courteous. The front desk woman working mornings through about 9 PM helped me switch rooms because of highway noise, and she also helped with the free laundry machine. Mr. Teo, who runs the bar and restaurant, was nice too. I was disappointed that the bar didn't have wine. The hotel sits beside a major highway, so traffic is audible all day and night. I asked for a room at the back, but the windows insulate poorly and the highway is just around the corner, so I could still hear it. If noise bothers you, ask for a back room. I chose the hotel because it was reasonably priced and had a gym, AC, and walking distance access to the historic center. The room was larger than expected, the bed was comfortable, and the AC worked well. The TV panel's bright LEDs shone right at my eyes at night like a torch, so I used an eye mask and opened my suitcase to block the blue light. The shower was roomy with plenty of hot water and good pressure, while the sink pressure was extremely low. There's a hairdryer and lots of closet space. The gym has working AC and a treadmill, with enough equipment for a decent workout, but its two large glass windows make it very hot from afternoon into evening. Food options nearby are mostly fast food, which I don't eat. Google had the hours wrong for a place I wanted to try. I went to an Indian restaurant a few blocks behind the hotel three times on three different days, and each time it was closed despite Google saying it was open. After that, I asked the front desk to call and check before I went. The historic center is a straight walk of about 20 minutes. Turn right out of the hotel and keep going to reach it. The area felt safe to walk around at any time. Given the price, amenities, and staff service, I recommend the hotel, with the caveat about traffic noise.
