The staff were great, but management's response left me disappointed. We told them discreetly about the bed bugs because we knew they weren't the staff's fault and didn't want anyone penalized for something fixable. They apologized, moved us to a better room, and thanked us for keeping it quiet. But after two nights there, my family was bitten again on our last night. At departure they offered a free breakfast at the coffee shop next door for our discretion. That didn't feel like being taken care of. Stuff happens, it's MX, but the response matters. I saw them cleaning the room before we left and new guests checking in, so management didn't seem very concerned. I'd strongly suggest staying elsewhere. We know what bed bug bites look like from a rental a decade ago, where the landlord had to fumigate the building. By the fourth night, my family had bites all over, though I don't react to bites. The photo with red circles shows bedbugs in cracks in the headboard, over what looks like insect powder. It seems like an ongoing problem. We went to a pharmacy for anti-itch cream, and my son was scared to sleep. The first room had plenty of things that needed fixing, though that wasn't the main issue. The sink only ran cold, the shower tap needed repair, plugs didn't work, and the bedside lamps were broken and hanging, with only one working. Had we not seen the second room, we wouldn't have realized how much repair the first needed.

The plant-lined courtyard at the back is peaceful and really pleasant, and you're well placed for the old town sights. Rooms are an adequate size with queen beds. The price didn't drop for single occupancy, so for two people it ended up costing more than some places of a similar standard.

We had a spacious, spotless room with a nice balcony overlooking the square, and the service was incredible. The receptionists and staff are well trained and speak English. It's a cozy little hotel in a fantastic spot, with restaurants, cafes, bars, and historic sights all an easy walk away. The library is thoughtfully put together, with some great books and even a special place to read. Lots of plants and flowers, and the amenities were great too.

When the power went out at 5:45 pm, the water stopped too, Wi-Fi was gone, and we had no flashlight in the room, so we were left in the dark until the next day. The outage itself wasn't their fault, but having no flashlights was. I wouldn't stay here again. Room 7 took more than 20 minutes to get warm water. I arrived at 2 am and it never got cold, so I had to use baby wipes. In the morning I waited another 20 minutes, still no warmth, and they moved me. Then someone went back to the room and the water was hot. In Room 8, the water smelled awful. Rain also came in through the patio doors. One morning, after I'd been sick and used all the towels, I asked the cleaner just to do the bathroom. She had been mopping the stairs, then used that same mop, without cleaning products, in the shower and on the bathroom floor. I nearly had a heart attack. Why would I want to step into a shower cleaned that way? Room 8 had a towel with a big hole in it. They wash and hang the towels in the rooms, so surely they'd seen it. The towels were really hard too. When are they going to replace them for paying guests?

Hector deserves five stars for being so helpful and always having suggestions for food and things to see and do. Most of the staff were also super friendly. The hotel is beautiful and the location is perfect, within walking distance of the whole city center. One downside: sound travels through the walls. We had screaming kids in the neighboring room for four days, which was really unnerving.
