Playa Escondida

We were a group of seven and had a great time at this peaceful, special place. It’s tucked into the jungle beside a swimming beach, away from the crowded town, and the restaurant is wonderful too. A taxi ride into town was quick and easy, but we most enjoyed the quiet. Each room has its own style and character, which was such a nice change from corporate chain hotels.

The private beach was just the right size, and the view from our private hot tub was unbeatable. We had a magical, quiet, peaceful stay at Hotel Playa Escondida. The cocktails were delightful, and the staff were helpful without being intrusive. It’s hard to believe Puerto Vallarta is only a short drive away.

We’ve returned to this hotel three times and are trying to plan a fourth, even though we like visiting new places. It’s our favorite. The setting is peaceful, the staff are amazing, and the rooms are unlike anything I’ve seen at another hotel. I’m not sure why it doesn’t have five stars. I thought about keeping quiet so it could stay a hidden secret, but it’s too good not to share.

The personal service is what keeps bringing us back. Staff make you feel like family, remember your name and drink order by the end of the first day, and go out of their way to make you comfortable. It feels personal, never transactional. We stayed in Villa Hideaway and loved the outdoor shower, a special touch that made the experience feel even closer to nature. The rooms are comfortable and full of character, and the whole property is beautiful. We first came as a couple, then returned with our closest friends because we couldn’t keep Playa Escondida to ourselves. The private beach feels like a secret paradise, yet town is only about 10 minutes away. It’s secluded, quiet, romantic, and peaceful, while still being convenient if you want to explore. This place feels intimate, beautiful, and welcoming. We’re planning to make it a yearly pilgrimage.
