La Conchita de Sisal 1

We left a day early and still paid for the unused night. We had asked to move the booking by one day after realizing, within five hours, that the unit wasn't right for our toddler or what we expected as paying guests. Someone on WhatsApp agreed to the change at Bertha's request, but Bertha, who manages the Airbnb booking, refused it. The place felt old, worn, and shabby when we arrived. We booked on 12/23 for 12/28-12/30 after looking at Airbnb and Google reviews. For a price comparable to Residence Inn, we expected intact sheets and tables that didn't wobble or collapse. There was no hot water apart from in the bathroom shower. My family lives in Mérida, and we wanted to visit Sisal. We travel a lot and have the same expectations wherever we go, whether that's an Airbnb in the US, Central America, Europe, or Asia. I care about the quality I get for my money, so I'm disappointed anyone would offer accommodations this substandard. The price doesn't feel justified, and it comes across as a money grab by the host. I even wondered whether she thought I deserved this treatment because Mexico isn't my country of origin.
