Hotel Casa Jima Agave

Getting around on foot was a real plus. We could reach food, a haircut, and a tequila distillery tour without trouble. Our apartment-style room had two bedrooms, a full kitchen, and a dining room, which worked especially well for our family of four. It was a fantastic stay, just much too short. The place is a bit of a hidden gem and felt unexpectedly special. It had only been open about eight months, so everything indoors was in perfect shape and very well maintained. The details, cleanliness, and staff service were all outstanding. The one problem was a loose seal around one bedroom's air conditioner. During a heavy storm with thunder and lightning, rain got in and my father-in-law woke up with a wet face and pillow. It should be an easy repair, though the building work needs a follow-up. Even so, the stay exceeded my expectations, and the place has clearly worked hard for its rating. I'd recommend it for a night or a short stay. You won't be disappointed. 😊

The beds felt like sleeping on the floor, and the hotel was noisy. The staff also came across as uneducated. I had to leave early in the morning, but their tour van was blocking my car. The receptionist had no keys and didn't know what to do when I asked him to move it. I requested the manager, but they didn't want to bother him because he was supposedly on vacation and couldn't be reached. Worst hotel in Tequila. I'd give the service minus five stars if that were an option.

The hot water was a letdown. We followed the shower instructions, but it never got past lukewarm. Noise was the other issue: the family suite is beside the entrance and front desk, and the walls are thin, so you hear people coming and going. We stayed one night in the family studio suite. It was clean and roomy, with comfortable king and queen beds. There weren't closets, but each bedroom had a clothing rack and a few hangers, enough for the dresses we needed for a wedding. Wi-Fi worked in the kitchen and living area, though there was no signal in the bedrooms.

The building carries sound everywhere. Doors, footsteps, and knocks all echo around, though we didn't have the loud music through the night that reviewers of other places mentioned. The location suited us too, far enough from the town center to avoid the commotion but still an easy walk to everything. It's a nice, clean place with parking on the property. The staff were very polite and helpful. We arrived before check-in, so they kept our bags while we went on the Casa Sauza tour.
