The staff were warm and ready to help, and I felt well cared for throughout my stay. Matices Hotel is in a perfect spot for enjoying Tequila, and the whole visit was relaxing and unforgettable. The hotel is beautiful, very clean, and well maintained, with thoughtful details that give it a distinctive feel. I highly recommend Matices Hotel for comfort, cleanliness, and outstanding service. After one night, we’d had enough and moved somewhere better. The price felt too high: the shower was clogged, the toilet seat crooked, the water was bad, and the place smelled musty. The pillows were dirty and stained. Never again.

We booked at the last minute to visit another Mexico treasure, and chose this unusual hotel largely because it was one of the only pet-friendly options. The natural setting on a volcanic hillside was incredible, with a stream cascading through the property. It was built on a Tequila factory site, and the layout is clever, with private areas connected by pathways across a couple of hectares. There are 41 individual rooms shaped like Tequila barrels. The concept and execution are great, though the place is showing its age. Each room has its own character, but the towels and bathrobes really drag down the stay. For over $400 cnd dlls, we expected much better. Spending half a night’s rent on fresh linens and robes could supply them for a few years. The current ones look original, maybe 15 years old. Millions went into creating this destination, so now spend $10,000 on new towels.

The property was beautiful and peaceful, and we felt safe the whole time. It’s about 10 minutes from town by taxi, and there’s a guarded gate at the entrance and exit. We stayed two nights and loved the experience from check-in to departure. They welcomed us with tequila shots and water, and the comfortable, very clean rooms had air conditioning, good beds, and private bathrooms. Booking directly with the hotel was easy. Our stay included a tasty breakfast both mornings, a distillery tour we really enjoyed, tequila tasting, and unlimited shots in the lobby. We also tried the refreshing pool, which has a bar beside it. One dinner at the cave restaurant was delicious, though service was a little slow. The staff were friendly and helped us arrange taxis. We’d definitely come back.
