Isla Tajín Beach & River Resort

We came a couple of weeks after hurricane Katia hit in 2017, and were glad the resort was still open. The staff were fabulous, friendly, patient with my limited Spanish, and accommodating. It's a tiny resort in a gorgeous location, with a lovely room and good food. The drive along the beach to get there was fun, just watch out for the blue crabs! Zona Arqueológica El Tajín is close enough for a full day trip. Highly recommend.

The food was amazing, though be careful, it's spicy. The rooms are amazing too, and it's a perfect spot for a romantic weekend. It's a small boutique hotel in a paradise setting. Getting there by boat is best, since the drive by car is an extreme Indiana Jones-style adventure.

The people who built this little place seem to have put their whole spirit into it, and you can feel that in the design. The drive in really is Indiana Jones style, just like someone said. There’s an easy way to get there, but I’m not giving away the trick because the spot is too special. Totonacan is where the real Mexicans come, and you’ll like it. Everyone we ran into here gave us that same feeling of care. The restaurant is beautiful. The funniest annoyance is hearing that gorgeous beach, lol. Whenever my old lady goes to the bathroom, someone follows her in and tidies up, even taking the toilet paper out of the trash, lol. I’ve seen a few one and two star reviews, and looking at those profiles, I’d say they’re fake because you can’t find a better place anywhere, dude. Hands down the best place I’ve ever stayed. Already planning to come back and rent it for a family reunion.

The rooms and pool were amazing, and the hotel itself was just as good. The beach was awesome too!
