Hotel Momotus

Breakfast is included, and apart from the parking I thought the hotel was very good. You can park there, but the space is so narrow, like an alley, that you have to move your car to let other guests out. Otherwise, you can park on the street. My stay was fine and comfortable, and the hotel looks clean in general.

The beds are huge and comfortable, with thick cotton sheets, and the blackout blinds and good air conditioning made the room comfortable too. I liked the bathroom design, and the shower had hot water and great pressure. The hotel was comfortable, the staff were lovely and helpful, and the little restaurant was great. There was some expected street noise, but I had earplugs and was fine.

There's a restaurant at the back serving traditional dishes at reasonable prices. The rooms are clean and modern, and the service is great. If noise bothers you, ask for a room at the back and you should be fine. I'd definitely stay here again.

Our room had a terrible smell throughout the stay, maybe from mold or dampness. The bathroom tiles already looked old and dirty, even though the decor and concept are nice. Service was okay, but they charge 20 pesos for a small bottle of water. Reception didn't want to call us a taxi because it would take a while, and suggested Uber instead. Uber seems quite new in Tuxtla, with few drivers, so we waited over 25 minutes. It would have been nice if they'd just called a taxi. They also hand out the TV and air conditioning remotes at check-in and expect you to return them to reception at checkout. I forgot, so the receptionist sent me back upstairs to get them. I was already stressed about the taxi and catching a bus, so that felt unnecessary and like poor service.
