Hotel Gayser

The room was ready early, the furniture was sturdy, and the AC worked. The location was good too. But it was a very basic room, more like a private hostel room than a boutique stay, and I wouldn't recommend it unless that's exactly what you're after. I managed one night, but wouldn't have wanted to stay longer. I was in room 2, right on the street. Not sure if there are rooms upstairs or just the staff office, but people outside could see me and knock on the window. I kept the curtains shut and gave up the natural light. There was no mini fridge, which seemed odd in that weather, and the wifi was so slow I could barely load Google images, making work impossible. Luckily I had mobile data. My bedsheets were too small for the mattress and felt a little sandy. Breakfast was very basic. I don't watch TV, so can't comment on it.

The location was good, but we had a terrible night because noise carried in from everywhere: the street, lobby, and kitchen. There was no soundproofing, and the doorbell rang loudly and kept ringing whenever someone came in, so we couldn't sleep. Calling the breakfast two kinds of fruit and toastable Bimbo bread feels generous.

The beds were comfortable, the room was clean, and the memory foam pillow was the best I had during my whole trip in Mexico. The one bad moment was being woken by cleaners who accidentally opened the door while we were still asleep, thinking they needed to clean the room.

We enjoyed our stay. The room was spacious, service was professional, and the hotel is two blocks from the main square. Breakfast was fairly basic, just bread with jam and butter, fruit, juice, and coffee.
