Hotel Sol Colonial

The hotel should have told us before we arrived that the pool had been closed for a long time. We also found there was no internet, no drinkable water, and no hot water shortly after checking in. The pictures and information on Orbitz don't match that experience, and I felt taken advantage of. Despite paying a hefty amount, the two chaise lounges by the closed pool were in desperate need of repair. There was a nice sun deck upstairs, but not a single chair, table, umbrella, or chaise. The water cooler was broken, and with no drinkable water, the hotel could at least have left a cheap bottle in the room. And please leave a hand towel by the sink. For two of our four days there was no hot water at all, not even warm water. It felt like staying in an abandoned hotel. What exactly were we paying for? There were employees everywhere, even though there didn't seem to be any business, and they weren't doing anything. Someone would be staring at me when I came out of our room, people watched from behind the closed pool, and others were on the balcony. I felt like the president with a sniper team. It wasn't a safety concern, just really uncomfortable and annoying. Hotel management, please don't try to brush this off with a lame apology. That doesn't fix the fact that you cheated my family and me out of money and dampened our vacation. You should have been upfront about the pool and the other problems. I can only hope you contact us and return some of our money.

A clean place with private parking and a good spot right downtown. Works well for a night or two.

The location may be the only good thing about this place. The front desk woman seemed annoyed from the start and didn't even greet us. When we asked for two extra cups for the kids, she said there weren't any. My husband offered to rent them, and then she brought out two more cups. The room had AC, but the whole place was noisy. I don't plan to stay here again.

For the price, it's a very good option. The staff were nice, there's parking, and the pool is refreshing in summer. Hot water was available when needed, and the location is excellent, just a few meters from the main church and downtown. We missed having a microwave or a mini fridge, even at the front desk. The Wi-Fi was super slow.
