The people are really nice, and they offer a full service diving experience. The guides know the area well and make the time underwater feel very relaxing. There's lodging, a restaurant, and a bar here, too. Once you arrive, you'll never want to leave.

Our hosts, the captain of the port and his wife, couldn't have been nicer. The village is small and quiet, and it's easy to wander around on foot. The price is very good, especially with the amazing breakfast included. I'll go back next year and recommend it.

Antonio is genuinely friendly, and the food he cooks for guests is very good and reasonably priced. We had an amazing five-day stay at Xcalak Caribe Lodge, with time for diving, snorkeling, and doing nothing. It was renovated three years ago and is in very good condition. Of the three oceanside rooms, you can watch the sunrise from bed through the big windows. The bed is good, and there's an A/C option, WiFi, and warm water most of the time. The location is the best in town, around a 10-15 min walk to XTC dive center, north of “town”. It's underrated, and I think the only bad reviews came from people who accidentally posted on caribe lodge when they meant to review other places. Very good value for money!

I arrived at dusk after a long travel day, dinner, and a long drive, ready to relax and sleep. The owner came out quickly, showed me to my room, and made sure I had what I needed, including high speed internet and cold bottled water. He was very accommodating, even if I may have been the first guest after the hot summer break. The room was clean, prepared for a guest, and perfectly adequate. I slept well and peacefully. I mentioned that I'd be leaving early, and the owner was up early too, getting the dining area ready and asking what I wanted for breakfast. The tasty hot breakfast came with juice and coffee, and there was more than I could eat. I paid the bill, said goodbye, and left with a very pleasant memory of my short stay. I'd be happy to return and enjoy the easy ambiance of Xcalak Caribe Lodge.

The owner was friendly, and the rooms were clean and tidy. Mine faced the street but overlooked the beachy area. It's easy to find, close to shops, a restaurant, and XTC Dive Centre, with a great taco place just a 2 min walk away. I'd stay there again.
