We came away from our four days at Casablanca wanting to return. One surprise was how many wonderful guests we met. We made friends at a clothing optional guest house, which we never expected, and hope we’ll run into them again someday. We can’t say enough good things about them. Kelly and Sherry made us feel welcome from the start. We spent a long time talking in the pool about things we have in common, and they felt as warm and wonderful as family. We’d read so many positive reviews and seen glowing YouTube accounts, but Casablanca still exceeded our expectations. Thank you, Kelly and Sherry, for this place.

There’s a bit of a walk down to Zipolite beach, but the property is beautiful and the view is amazing. We love staying here!

We stayed in December 2024 and loved our time at Casablanca. The layout is thoughtful, with private spots as well as places to hang out together, and the hosts made us feel incredibly welcome. Selena and the other dogs on site were a highlight. It’s a little off the beaten path, which suited us well, and the beach and town are about a 10-minute walk away. Such a relaxing vacation, thank you Kelly and Shari!

The place itself is lovely, clean and peaceful, perched above a pebbly beach with waves breaking among the rocks. That quiet feeling changes in the afternoon, when the naked pool party runs roughly from 3pm to 8pm each day. There’s party noise and sometimes a whiff of pot. We were given a thorough rundown of the house rules when we arrived. A few hours later, I got out of the pool and stepped past one of the small blue mats before drying off. The male owner yelled at me in front of the other guests, then followed my drips with a mop and sternly told me to get a towel and leave no water near the pool for safety. I felt humiliated in public and wasn’t comfortable using the pool for the rest of our stay. The next day, the female owner’s only interaction with me was to tell me how to position the patio umbrella I was using for shade. Apparently, extending it beyond the metal collar on its base was unsafe. Maybe that could be added to the encyclopedic rules, or put on a passive-aggressive sign. I didn’t feel respected as a paying guest, so despite the beautiful setting, I wouldn’t stay here again.

We enjoyed our week here, especially the infinity pool facing the beach. We saw whales breaching in the distance, and the hosts were friendly and easygoing. The hotel has four or five other rooms, but in November we mostly had the place to ourselves. Our room was comfortable and had A/C. Getting into town means a short walk and a climb up a staircase. There aren’t restaurants or bars nearby, and we got tired of making that trip for meals. Cooking facilities are available, though the knife was soooo blunt. The beach staircase had been damaged by the recent hurricane, so getting down there felt a bit dodgy. The water is drinkable, but very hard, and the shower pressure sucks. Still a beautiful spot with welcoming hosts.
