The rooms smelled bad and looked as if they hadn't been used in a long time. One toilet was broken and wouldn't flush. We had booked five rooms, and the air conditioning wasn't working properly in any of them. My brother ended up cleaning each unit himself before it started getting cold. When we told the staff there was no electricity in the room, the man came in angry, slamming the keys and doors. His attitude was the worst part for me: the Malay male staff member was extremely rude, and we can't forgive that. This was the worst experience I've ever had. Please don't book here.

We arrived around 9pm+ on 22 March 2026 to check into two rooms. The receptionist was an older gentleman, and I found him rather arrogant. His tone and explanations felt unfriendly, as though I owed him something. He could have handled the conversation more politely and professionally. I definitely won't return.

The price was low and the room had plenty of space, though there was no water kettle. Water coolers were available on the first and second floors, but the one upstairs wasn't working properly during our stay. The location was quite good, very close to the Alor Setar Selatan highway exit. There is no lift, which makes getting around pretty challenging for elderly people.

The message offered to calculate payment based on submitted tasks and asked for a screenshot and task number as proof. It instructed the recipient to open Google Maps, search for the provided address, give “Sweet Star Hotel” a 5-star rating, then send the screenshot.

For the price, it was still okay. The rooms are cheap and have hot and cold showers. It's not in a prime area, so food places and convenience stores are a bit further away. You'll need a vehicle to get around unless you want to walk, though the nearest eatery is about 5 minutes away.
