Jerejak Island Resort

The garden landscaping is beautiful, and I'm enjoying dinner here now. This newly renovated place has a whole new feel, with refurbished rooms and new furniture. The beach bar has just opened too. It looks great for group retreats and activities.

The island has beer, ice cream, snacks, and other things to pick up, though the resort food was only okay and not especially nice. I’d stay overnight instead of making it a day trip, since resort guests get most facilities free and have priority for the ferry and island buggy. The place is really a nicely furnished little villa up on a hill. One catch: the mini fridge is a wine chiller, so drinks don’t get properly cold. The lobby dog was a lovely surprise, sleeping there while everyone fussed over it. I kept wondering how they got its coat so soft and fluffy.

The staff were friendly, and we did get a refund when we checked out early. We left because the room and wardrobe smelled damp and musty, there was hardly any storage, and the showers were cold and poorly maintained. The restaurant choices were very basic and the food really wasn’t good. On our first night, even the prawns seemed off. It also felt more like a conference, team-building, and party venue than somewhere for a relaxing holiday, and the beach and sea weren’t nice.

There wasn’t much to do, and the island felt boring. It’s very small, about the size of Youth Park, and the management and service were both poor. Things were chaotic at the jetty because there was no queueing system, and there were plenty of mosquitoes too. Food was terrible, often salty, not hot, and not fresh. Even the water came with lemon and cucumber. The set lunch had very few choices for RM40, basically fried rice or fish and chips.
