Iris House Hotel Cameron Highlands

The room was large, but the balcony and its grills were covered in dried bird droppings, which made the poor upkeep obvious. There was no chain lock on the door, a safety concern, and no hairdryer. For ironing, staff sent me to the basement, where the ironing board was just a cloth-covered table. The iron had burnt residue and stained my dress. Water leaked from the roof onto the toilet seat, dripping mouldy water on us whenever we used it, so we had to bathe multiple times. Some plug points didn’t work, and I had to wait for my partner to finish charging his phone before using the same one. Dealing with all this for two days was frustrating. I told the Front Desk Staff at checkout, and they already knew about the problems. Why sell rooms with so many defects?

It was so noisy that it felt like sleeping by the roadside, and I was in a bad mood for the whole trip. The window was badly damaged and wouldn’t close fully. The bed had loose hair on it and wasn’t clean, and they didn’t have an extra pillow when I asked. At reception they asked for extra tax money for the room deposit without giving a receipt, even though I’d already paid tax through Agoda. I wasn’t sure if that money was for their own pocket. I paid to sleep well and was totally let down.

There were too many mosquitoes, and staying here ruined my whole trip. The TV didn’t work and there was no toothbrush. This was the worst hotel I’ve stayed at in Cameron Highlands, a terrible experience. The room wasn’t worth more than RM100, and should only cost RM20 or RM30. This hotel should be shut down.

The location is good, but the Google photos need updating. The walls are grey, there’s no AC, and the toilet wouldn’t flush. There was hair and a stain on the bedsheet and pillows.
