DS Hotel

The rooms are spacious, there are shops close by, and breakfast is included too. Don’t overlook this place just because it’s a three-star hotel. It’s the best one of that kind I’ve stayed in.

The room was pretty average, but the service at the counter was good.

We ended up here because Gemas doesn’t offer many places to stay. The water filter in the lobby is handy for topping up bottles, and breakfast is free at the cafe next door. It’s basic, though there are other kedai kopi nearby. Our room was clean, but a large strip of plaster had come away from the wall and hadn’t been fixed. There’s no fridge. The AC worked, but only just enough to keep things comfortable.

The one thing I can give it credit for is the cleanliness. Otherwise, the room service was very poor, and even instant coffee, tea, and sugar weren’t provided. There were no toiletries or electric kettle, and although they brought an iron when I asked, there wasn’t an ironing board. They used toilet tissue for the tissues, didn’t have an extra pillow, and the air conditioning barely cooled the room. The technical staff were irresponsible, and customer service was really bad. For what they charge, the service needs a lot of improvement.
