Bayview Hotel Georgetown Penang

We were three adults, and they offered an extra bed at a good price. Parking was really good, and apart from a few shortcomings, everything else was good. There’s no shower gel, and we got only 2pcs of towels. The TV is so old I couldn’t watch youtube, and breakfast was absolutely mid. The hotel looks very 90s. I came here 5 years ago and nothing has changed. Donno how long they’ll last, but it wasn’t bad.

Reception staff were kind and helpful, and they sorted out my keycard problem quickly so I could get on with my day. But I came to penang for personal matters and needed a reasonably priced place to sleep and shower, and the room had a lot of issues. The lights flickered now and then, the toilet ceiling looked like it had holes, and the power socket felt too loose. The bed was hard and I woke with a sore back. The walls were thin, too, and some guests didn’t seem to care how loudly they talked near midnight. Maybe that’s not the management’s fault. It was livable if you don’t expect everything to be in perfect condition, but I’m giving it 2 stars.

The location works well, and there’s a pool and a small workout room. Staff were friendly and helpful throughout. The rooms are clean, but the carpet and furnishings are dated and could use a face lift. There wasn’t much wow factor. The top-floor rotating restaurant and cocktail lounge are very nice, though it’s somewhat sad they don’t seem to get much business.

There’s a good range at the buffet breakfast, served by friendly, efficient waiters, and the room was spacious at 27 square metre. The price was reasonable. I stayed for 7 nights, two floors below the rooftop, in a quiet room within walking distance of attractions. Ask for a high-floor seafront view room to see the port and UNESCO Heritage Site at Bayview Hotel Georgetown. Every day, eagles fly overhead because their nest is on the tallest tree in Friendship Park.
