Jelly is a great laugh and really brings the place to life, and the staff are fantastic in general. There are lots of different areas to explore in the large building, including a rooftop, terrace, snug, and reception. The place was generally clean and well supplied. My room was okay, but a bit run down and due for a makeover. I didn't have a problem with noise, though I heard a little from the street. That's downtown Penang, so city noise comes with the location.

The dorm is really nice, and they provide a simple breakfast of toast, egg, and beans. I wish the dorm curtains were less see-through, but it's still great that there are curtains. There are several washrooms and showers around the building, plus a few seating areas. The neighborhood is excellent too, with night hawker stalls at both ends of the street, Western food, bars, cafes, and plenty of attractions within walking distance.

Right by Love Lane, the location is perfect, and the whole street stays quiet at night. The staff are super friendly, and there's tea, coffee, and biscuits any time of day. Breakfast might seem basic, but it's good enough. The place feels cozy, with guitars, books, and table tennis in the living area, plus a nice rooftop and garden. The walls can be thin at night, though, so you may hear people talking or snoring.

The staff were nice, but the room wasn't clean when we arrived. There was hair on the floor, the toilet paper hadn't been replaced, and it smelled mouldy. The room looked pretty worn, with rusty equipment and mould on the walls, and even the bedsheets didn't seem fully clean. WiFi in the room was slow too. I read a similar complaint about the bedroom with the private shower and toilet, so it may be the worst room in the hostel. The management needs to make changes if they care about the place.

The staff were great, and the location in George Town was hard to beat, with good restaurants and street food nearby. But we stayed nine nights and barely got any rest because of the constant noise. Part of it may be the age of the building. After the first night, traffic and noisy neighbours came through a thin partition between the private rooms, so staff helpfully moved us. The new room had no neighbours through that partition and less traffic noise, but it was by a door to the outdoor area, toilets, showers, and smoking area. Guests in the corridor chatted loudly at 1am or 6am, slammed doors, and ran over very creaky wooden floors. There was also a high-pitched fan or air-con from the restaurant next door, from around noon to 10pm, and the property's cats would periodically fight and scream day and night. All that noise ruined the stay for us.
