Hotel NEO+ Penang by ASTON

We stayed as a couple for seven days. The staff, from reception to security, were extremely friendly, always greeting us and ready to help. Our rooms were very clean, and housekeeping was prompt and respectful. The location was especially handy: supermarkets, Gama department store, convenience shops, Indian and local Penang food, Japanese food, and Hin Depot craft shops were all nearby. Farther out were big malls, with Chinatown streets behind them to the left, and Armenian and the jetties to the right. Room and laundry prices felt affordable too. There were some downsides. Our floor's hallway smelled musty, and parts of the carpet looked dirty and worn. The shower floor wasn't built properly, so water ran out of the shower toward the drain outside; we had to put the mat by the toilet or it would get soaked. We paid RM30 per person to try the breakfast buffet for a day since it wasn't included, and didn't feel the price was justified. Those issues weren't a big deal for us, but they were noticeable. We enjoyed our stay and would still recommend the hotel.

Elyda is such a lovely person, cheerful, attentive, and ready to help when needed. Thanks for everything. I don't think we say that enough. The room was spacious and really comfortable, and the hotel's quality, food, service, everything, was great. The food is halal too. I'm having a great vacation, and if I return to Penang I'll gladly stay here again.

We loved staying at Neo+. The rooftop pool was fun, and the water dispensers on every floor were very convenient. Parking was free, and the friendly staff were helpful. Indra, the security guard, was a great ambassador for the hotel. During check-in he even went outside to show my husband how to reach the car park. He was proactive, greeted every guest, and pressed the lift button when we entered the lobby. Neo+ is well placed for New Lane, Komtar, Gama, 1st Avenue Mall, and Prangin Mall, and it's a budget-friendly downtown Georgetown option. We were there over Chinese New Year and got to see fireworks from the hotel and the lion dance at Gama. The main drawback was the lifts. Different ones stopped working during our stay, leaving only two of the three in service for guests and staff. I hope management makes sure that doesn't keep happening. It took us 10 minutes to get downstairs one morning.
