Just Duvet Guest House

We planned on three nights and stayed for seven. The staff were friendly and helpful, the room was clean, and the AC worked well. There's a useful kitchen, a simple breakfast each morning, and free hot and cold drinking water. I appreciated saving money on bottled water and cutting down on plastic. The shared bathrooms stayed clean and had hot water. The guesthouse is tucked away in a quiet, cozy alley, which I liked, though better signs would make it easier to find. At one end is a popular liquor shop that also has outdoor tables where people drink. The alcohol is the cheapest in Penang and it's a fun spot, but sometimes a few drunk people sit in the alley, which might feel unsettling to women returning alone at night. For the price, the amenities and central location are good value. I'd happily stay again.

Our group had two adorable, clean rooms, and the bathrooms were kept clean as well. The staff were really friendly. The guesthouse is tucked away, but right in the middle of an area full of history and charm. I only wish we'd had more time to stay.

A cozy, pleasant guesthouse with clean rooms that aren't too small, and friendly staff. You can borrow bicycles for free, and the internet is generally fast enough, though it can be weak in some rooms. The entrance is easy to miss: it's opposite Tipsy Tiger, to the left along the small street.

The location is great, which was the only positive for us. We had a difficult time finding the place because there was no sign. We walked right past it with our luggage, and the woman on staff saw us looking lost but didn't tell us we'd found the guesthouse. Check-in felt unpleasant, and the staff member wasn't welcoming. The air conditioning in the family room also didn't work properly, so it was very warm.
