Kahlid walked us through local dishes, including char kway teow, nasi Lemak, and our favourite, rendang chicken. He took the time to explain the ingredients and how to make each dish. It was a beautiful kitchen, with everything readily available, and we came away feeling we’d learned a lot. We can’t wait to cook these dishes at home.

We had such a fun cooking class with Khalid. He’s a great chef with lots of amazing stories, and we enjoyed cooking together and learning the regional recipes. He also knows how to recommend great places to eat in Penang. Highly recommended.

The food was delicious, and we had a lot of fun and good conversations during the class. Khalid explained the ingredients and why the dishes are prepared that way. We had a great time and would definitely recommend it.

I’d dreamed of taking a cooking class in Penang, so this felt like a dream come true 🥹🙏. Before booking a visit to the “food paradise” of southeast Asia, I knew it was a must. Penang is famous for its food and its rich mix of Malay, Chinese, Indian, and Peranakan influences. Our class with @mypintu lasted four hours and felt like a special, authentic, intimate afternoon. Khalid showed us how to make the dishes, explained each ingredient and why it’s used, and even told us where to find it in the uk. We went home with a full heart and lots of new things to try 🥹✨. He sent all of us the recipes afterwards, which was super helpful. We made nasi lamak (coconut rice) with all the sides, rendang, roti jala, and sambal. Everyone had chicken rendang, while I had potato and mushroom. These dishes take a lot of care, and it was amazing to learn how to make them from Khalid. I’d highly recommend the class 🙌.

I really enjoyed cooking with Khalid. In just over three hours we made three different items and had wonderful discussions along the way. He explained which foods I could substitute if I couldn’t find certain ingredients at home. He was interesting, knowledgeable, and a great teacher of Malaysian cooking.
