Miner's House Ipoh

I really enjoyed staying here. The house is spacious, with comfortable beds and clean bathrooms, and the whole place is laid out and decorated nicely. Before I arrived, the owner contacted me on WhatsApp in my native language and sent clear instructions for getting into the hostel, which was a lovely touch. Breakfast was a homemade waffle with kaya and the owner’s own black coffee blend. She joined me for a friendly chat, and speaks English fluently. The hospitality and service were remarkable. This hostel could be a benchmark for others in Southeast Asia.

We only spent a day in Ipoh and didn’t stay at the hostel, but they still gave us some of the most helpful support we received on our Malaysia trip. They answered with real care, looked for practical ways to help, and shared thoughtful local tips for the day. They did it simply to be kind, with nothing expected in return. I’d recommend the hostel based on this experience alone. If they’re this thoughtful toward people who aren’t guests, I can imagine how well they look after those who stay there. Thank you very much :)

The receptionist was so helpful, and the place felt cozy and comfortable. I felt calm there. Breakfast was complimentary, really good, and had lots of options. The room and bathroom were both good and clean. Very hospitable, right in the middle of town. I’ll visit again.

It’s a quiet, homely place with several shared spaces, including a balcony, and I’d definitely recommend it for a peaceful stay. The building has heritage character and is close to the old town. Staff were excellent, and there’s every amenity you need. I especially liked the free breakfast salad, and it was handy to use the washing machine for free too.
