The location is handy for the train station, restaurants, and a mini market, and the bathroom was in good condition. Breakfast was basic, just toast with tea or coffee. I asked for a single bed in a fan room without windows, but got a small room with a double-decker bed, a fan, and windows instead. It was noisy outside at night, so I couldn’t sleep. I’d also asked to check out at 1pm. On the morning I was leaving, a staff member said I had to be out by noon because he was busy. I didn’t mind packing early, but at 11:30 he told me to leave right then, pulled my bag outside to the counter, and didn’t explain why, even when I asked several times. That was a bit rude. It’s still a decent place to stay, but I wouldn’t recommend the area for a woman travelling alone. It felt a bit dangerous, with many foreigners around, not the backpacker kind. Choose somewhere else if you can. #MyOpinionTho

Cheap and has a homely feel, with the option to cook and do laundry. Water is limited, and it’s a bit hard to get to since it’s on the third floor. The room isn’t very quiet because some of the walls are plywood. Still, it’s quite worth it. Thanks.

The rooms were leaking, the toilet was in bad shape, and there was no light. The window was broken, and the pillowcase and bedsheet smelled of sweat. There’s a pub downstairs, the walkway is dark, and the staircase feels scary. Construction noise continued at midnight 🤔🤔. Better find somewhere else.

The staff were nice, and they gave me a room with a window even though I’d paid for the cheaper one. I could leave as early as 5 AM to catch my flight, and it’s a five-minute walk from the KL Sentral. Very cheap, too.

We paid 60 MYR for a 5.5-hour stay and were made to leave at 5:30 in the morning. The man at reception also asked my husband for 10 more. He wouldn’t let us leave our bags there, and the room we were moved from seemed to have no one in it at all. We suspect he kept the money himself and made us leave early so his boss and colleagues wouldn’t know two extra guests had stayed. We can’t prove that, but that’s what it looked like. We’d first checked online for a room, but the website required card details to finish booking, so since we were close by, we decided to walk in. Easily the worst decision of my backpacking life. At 21:30, the male receptionist, or maybe just the hotel keeper, showed us a double room with a bunk bed for 50 MYR. We agreed because we only needed somewhere to sleep briefly before going to Malaka the next morning. He said the upper bed wasn’t made yet and asked us to go out for food while he prepared it. We went for dinner, walked to the station, and got things ready for our trip. When we came back at 1:00 AM, he said he couldn’t give us a room because the hotel was full. He moved us to a room that looked like storage and said he had prepared a bed for us. At that hour we had no real choice, since going back out with our backpacks to look for somewhere else wasn’t great. Then he said he’d wake us at 5:30 and we had to check out. We tried to negotiate leaving our bags there and collecting them after visiting Batu Cave, but he still said no. We were kicked out at 5:30. Can’t give even one star to hotel staff who cheat like this. The room shown during check-in wasn’t the room we actually stayed in, and the one we got was worse than my storage room.
