The room was at least clean, but there wasn’t much space beyond the bed, and anyone taller than an average Western person may find it too short. The air conditioning was freezing, and we had to get the remote from the lobby to adjust it. It still wouldn’t respond, so we spent the night freezing. Water kept covering the bathroom floor, apparently from a leak, and sound traveled straight through the walls. I could hear TVs from other rooms and people in the hall, including our neighbor’s very passionate phone call at 00:45. Location is the only great thing about this hotel. The rest was mediocre at best, and the glowing online reviews seem undeserved.

Finding the hotel was difficult. There’s no signboard, just an A4 sheet with “Hotel Esperanza” printed on it. Our room was tiny, with dirty walls and no air conditioner remote. There was only about 50 cm between the bed and wall, making it hard to move around. I booked a twin room, but they gave me a single. Not recommended.

It’s cheap, and the aircon is powerful. The Wi-Fi was reasonably fast too, at 15 down and 20 up. But the place is far from clean or attractive, and I wouldn’t trust the photos on booking sites. The owners stayed up in reception and the central area watching YouTube and talking loudly all night. The walls do nothing to block sound. Cheapness is the only thing it has going for it.

We only spent the night because it was late, then took the loss and left. The floor was hairy and oily, and we didn’t even want to walk barefoot. The sheets looked dirty, the pillows were old, there was no toilet paper or toiletries, and no AC remote. Even the entrance and corridors were dirty. It was the dirtiest place we’ve ever stayed. Never again. It deserves zero stars.

The room was so small it was hard to move around, with only about 50 cm between the bed and wall. The walls were dirty, and they didn’t give us the air conditioner remote. Worst hotel I’ve ever been to.
