MOV Hotel Kuala Lumpur

I paid 160 ringgit for a twin room. The hotel was clean, stylish, and comfortable, with a nice bed and strong Wi-Fi. The TV had decent channels but no Netflix. The female receptionist was friendly, and in the mornings there were free-flow drinks in the lobby. They also offered a welcome drink when I checked in at 6 p.m., though it tasted a bit too healthy for me. The location is hard to beat, about three minutes' walk to Alor Street and Lot 10 Mall and five minutes to Pavilion, with plenty of places to eat nearby. My only drawback was the slightly downhill walk to the hotel, which might be uncomfortable for an older person walking there. You can approach from Alor Street instead, though it's a bit farther. The airport taxi they offered was somewhat pricey at 120 ringgit to KLIA2.

It's a budget hotel in a great spot in Bukit Bintang, so don't expect room service or similar extras. There are plenty of cafes and restaurants nearby, plus two laundrettes right across the street. My room was clean and functional, with Wi-Fi, and I booked a windowless one for a very reasonable rate. Since there are no windows on the floor, you have to head up to the roof to see KL's ever-changing weather. I had to ask for a mini fridge, but otherwise there were no issues.

The street noise was constant and made it hard to rest, and our stay at MOV Hotel Kuala Lumpur was one of the worst hotel experiences we've had. At check-in, the room and bathroom were disgustingly dirty, as if they hadn't been cleaned: the sheets and pillowcases seemed unchanged, bins including the toilet bin were full of the previous guests' trash, and the floor and toilet had hair, dirt, and stains. The twin room was unbelievably tiny. The air conditioning was also awful to control, either fully off or blasting freezing air at full force. The pool, café, and terrace were much smaller and less comfortable than the photos and ads suggested, and were poorly maintained; the pool was dirty too. On top of what we paid online, they charged a 30 RM service fee and demanded a 50 USD deposit, which felt ridiculous given the state of the hotel. It felt more like a cheap budget hostel than a four-star hotel, and the same money could get you somewhere much better in Kuala Lumpur. The male receptionist was rude and unpleasant. Since we'd already paid online, cancelling wasn't really an option. Honestly, I wouldn't have stayed an hour, let alone three nights, if we could have avoided it.

MOV Hotel is a comfortable, simple place if all you need in Bukit Bintang is somewhere to sleep, shower, and rest. It's clean and safe, which mattered to us as a family, and the staff were friendly. Security guards did a good job keeping things safe. The hotel doesn't have a café, but there are plenty of coffee shops and restaurants nearby, and Jalan Alor, the famous street food area, is close. It's right in the middle of the city, so getting around is easy, and you can readily get a Grab. It's not fancy, but I'd recommend it if you want a clean, convenient city stay.
